Modified Sticks

Some images just beg for some kind of modification, and the "sticks" image that I posted earlier had me thinking about taking something as physically simple and yet visually complex as a bunch of small sticks and making them even more interesting visually.

I have always been fascinated by the curved line, such as presented by Vincent VanGogh in so many of his works, and I refer to it constantly when I am working from imagination. There is something about the tactile movement of the curve that brings into play more subtle muscles, more "searching" for a resolution or destination, and for me, more interest in the object of attention.

Here's a version (modified) of one of the earlier photographs I took of "sticks". Reality is intangible.

Sticks

A bucketful of trimmings from the plinth blocks I sanded all morning gave me pause. As remnants they speak to the visual as transcending time. Everything can mean something to someone?

Flowers, Flowers, Everywhere!

I'm determined to get back on track with this blog, maybe with more writing, more artwork, but certainly more post and pictures... I was struck this afternoon while cutting the grass at all the wild  flowers in the fields. I'm not sure whether it is just me or if there are truly that many more flowers than usual. They are beautiful in their great numbers!

Here are three shots I got after supper as the sun was getting low in the sky.

Jackson at the New House

He really liked playing around in the mud. These shots weren't thought out much, but here they are, unretouched (word?) and so typical of the day and Jackson's interest in everything from car keys to mud puddles.

The house is coming along good, and really fast as well!

Here is a mobile shot I got last night in Sorrento of David and Dave.

Odds and Ends After School

So I, as I often do after getting home from school, grabbed my camera and headed out into the nearby environment to see what I could find interesting to photograph. Here are a few things that "struck my fancy" mostly through the play of light on the subjects, but also due to point of view and the natural beauty that so often elevates me to another plane. No adjustments to any of these images, they are all just as the camera and I saw them.

Long Cove Mirror

This morning was gorgeous on the way into school, and I had to stop at Long Cove in Sorrento and capture a few images. The water was just like a mirror and started to soften up a bit with a slight breeze just as I was finishing my "looking around". Here are three of the ones I liked best.
