Pensive Jackson

I have taken a number of images of my grandson, who now very clearly calls me "Grampy" and whom I love as a subject. This has quickly become one of my favorites!

Shirts

Does the "order" in the shirts in my closet offer up any hints toward OCD tendencies by me. I think I just look for order where I know I can find it!

Petals

Spring is so beautiful with everything budding out and bursting forth, and my photo classes have been shooting "macro" images, choosing mostly flowers. Hmmm... so here's an image of tulip petals in macro mode!

New Work Started

I've really had trouble finding the time to "make" much over the winter. As teaching responsibilities (my choice) have grown greatly the past few years, my involvement with the Maine Teacher of the Year Association and Program, and much of the daily "stuff" with family and a son suffering mental illness have been priorities over my "art", I struggle to accomplish work.

There is always and always has been a literal "need" within me to create, and I often think that only other "creators" realize what I am talking about when I say this. Anyway, I am in the middle of "adjusting my priorities", and am in hopes to be more prolific with creative work in the next months.

I'm posting a shot of part of my workspace after a "burst" this weekend! All works in progress...

Street Shadow

LEaving the chiropracter's office the other day, I walked up the street towartd the car and niticed the pattern of a pickett fence on my right. I was just sort of getting "into" the rythym of the fence when I turned and saw the shadow of myself and the fence right there in the street. The first place it showed was sort of boring, so I walked up the sidewalk a bit and found a white stripe to includse in the shot. I like the angles in the composition, I like that it describes me with my hat on as well! The textures of the asphalt and the concrete sidewalk also relive the image from its very "flat" nature.

Mosquito Already?

I'm pretty sure it was a male, and it didn't seem to have the "biting" apparatus that the females do, but all the same it seems a ghastly sight for early in May!

Taken with the Hipstamatic app on my iPhone and a close up lens, I'm really drawn to the diagonals and the expression on this guy's face!

Macro Staples Fantasy

I was replacing the headboard finish in our bedroom this morning and collected the staples I pulled into a "bunch" with a magnet. Something about them caught my eye and I grabbed my close up lens adapter and shot a few images with different lighting and backgrounds. Here are a couple of those.

Spring Ahead... Back to the 60's

I purchased a new "lens" and "film" for my Hipstamatic iPhone app and I love the way it makes the images look like old sun drenched photos from the 60's.

I thought I would be a bit "ironic" with this shot, and now that the weather has broken and we are able to get outside and enjoy some sunshine, the aluminum webbed lawn chairs (yes, from the 60's) are a place to sit and relax for a few moments, so they became the subject for some explorations of this new "retro" look on my iPhone camera!
